RICHARD WITTENBERG

PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, ACT FOR HEALTH
Richard L. Wittenberg has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of Adolescent & Child Targets for Health Foundation, Inc., (ACT For Health), since he founded the organization in 2002.  Prior to establishing ACT for Health, Mr. Wittenberg was the President and CEO of the American Association for World Health (AAWH), a position he held for over eleven years.  He has successfully directed numerous nationwide initiatives promoting public health education and community involvement in the improvement of issues as diverse as oral health, healthy communities, childhood immunizations, safe motherhood, HIV/AIDS, and mental health.  In testimony before Congress and in numerous publications and community presentations, Mr. Wittenberg has worked toward the recognition and resolution of major health challenges facing this nation.  During his tenure at AAWH, he greatly expanded the organization's reach, constructing a network of over 30,000 public and private organizations and individuals committed to public health issues.  In particular, he established strong ties with officials at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, further strengthening the efforts of AAWH.

Before assuming the leadership of AAWH, Mr. Wittenberg directed the Public Affairs Office of Ohio Department of Health for eight years.  In addition, he served as an educator, state legislator in Ohio and as an assistant to a U.S. Senator. Mr. Wittenberg presently serves as a Board member of the Partnership for a Healthier Pinellas and chairs its marketing committee and is a member of the Healthy Start Coalition of Pinellas and the Pediatric Asthma Resource Action Team (Pinellas County Asthma coalition).

MICHELE SOLLOWAY, Ph.D., R.P.P.

Dr. Solloway is the Director of the Center for Applied research and Evaluation (C.A.R.E.) at Trillium Family Services, Inc., in Portland, OR.  Trillium Family Services, Inc. is a statewide, non-profit agency providing a full-spectrum array of mental and behavioral health to children and families in Oregon. C.A.R.E. provides research and evaluation services for Trillium with a focus on effective and evidence-based practices, conducts education and training services to staff, and collaborates with academic, policy and community stakeholders.  For over 15 years, Dr. Solloway has conducted research in primary and preventive care for children and adolescents, emergency services for children, substance abuse prevention in underserved communities, leadership training and civic engagement for parents to improve child outcomes, welfare reform, Medicaid, and state health policy. Dr. Solloway also extensive experience in evaluating national, state and local programs and conducting survey research. Dr. Solloway has taught both undergraduate and graduate-level courses in maternal and child health, public health policy, policy analysis, US health systems, quantitative methods, research methods, and alternative medicine and health.

Prior to joining Trillium Family Services, Inc., Dr. Solloway was an Associate Research professor at the University of New Hampshire. She also worked as a Senior Research Scientist at The George Washington University Center for Health Policy Research and the US General Accounting Office in Washington, D.C. Dr. Solloway holds a Doctorate in City and Regional Planning from the University of California at Berkeley, a Master’s in Public Administration from San Francisco State University, and a Bachelors in Neurobiology from U.C. Berkeley. She is also nationally certified as a polarity therapist (NCEMBT and APTA) and has a private polarity therapy practice.

JILL BOEZWINKLE, M.P.H.

Ms. Boezwinkle has served as a consultant for ACT for Health since its inception.  She is a 2001 graduate of the University of Michigan, receiving a degree in Organizational Studies.  Ms. Boezwinkle also received a Masters of Public Health from the University of Michigan in 2004, with a concentration in health behavior and health education.  She has worked with organizations such as the American Association for World Health and The Futures Group International.  She is currently working in Washington, DC as a Presidential Management Fellow.
