Healthy People 2010 Tools

  • Healthy People in Healthy Communities: A Community Planning Guide using Health People 2010. This document describes (1) how to know if your community is healthy; (2) Strategies for creating a healthy community, including how to engage key stakeholders, conduct a needs assessment, and an implementation and evaluation plan; (3) references and resources, and (4) specific information on Healthy People 2010 Leading Indicators, Healthy People 2010 Objectives for Communities, and additional information on worksites schools, and environmental health.

State-Based Opportunities

  • Parent Leadership Training Institute, Connecticut Commission on Children. 20- week intensive training in tools of civic engagement, child development and advocacy. Participants say this program is transformational.

What Works: Programs and Interventions that May Affect Outcomes for Children and Youth: Child Trends DataBank. Provides data, trends, gender/race differences and links to additional data sources and information on leading indicators for children and youth.
