Healthy People 2010 and Other Health Promotion, Disease Prevention

  • Healthy People 2010 Tool Kit: On-line resources from US DHHS Office of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention to help you develop a Healthy People 2010 plan in your state. Includes materials for (1) building leadership; (2) identifying and securing resources; (3) identifying and working with partners; (4) establishing priorities and objectives; (5)obtaining baseline measures and measuring progress; (6) managing and sustaining the process; and (7) marketing.
  • Public Health Foundation “Tools and Resources” The Public Health Foundation has developed and provided many links to tools and resources for public health planning, program development, tracking, and evaluation. Includes broad categories of (1) Performance Improvement Tools and Resources; (2) Healthy People 2010 Tools and Resources; and (3) Other Tools and Resources. Comprehensive site.

Child Health: General

  • Assuring Better Child Development (ABCD): With support from the Commonwealth Fund, the National Academy of State Health Policy site provides a tool box for states. Purpose of ABCD project is to improve developmental outcomes and children’s readiness to learn and to prevent more intensive and expensive care later in life. Tool box provides information and resources for states, providers, managed care organizations, and parents.

Quality of Care for Children

  • Child Health Tool Box, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, US, DHHS: Contains information, tools and resources for evaluating health care services and programs, including Medicaid and State Child Health Insurance Programs (SCHIP) quality for children. Detailed information on indicators for healthcare quality and performance.
  • Child and Adolescent Health Measurement Initiative (CAHMI), Oregon Health Sciences University, Department of Pediatrics, is a national collaboration committed to measuring and improving the quality of health care for children and adolescents. The CAHMI is committed to ensuring that families, purchasers, policymakers and providers have relevant and actionable information about health care quality that can be used to help families make better health care decisions to improve health care quality and the health of children, adolescents and families. Site provides information, tools and links for quality measures.
  • Cultural Competency, sponsored by the Office of Minority Health, US Department of Health and Human Services. Provides links to a variety of cultural competency resources to better and more comprehensively address the needs of minority patients.
